Jamaica is hot right now, in terms of temperature and demand for air travel.
In a meeting led by Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund
Bartlett, and his Senior Tourism executives, JetBlue Airways executives
confirmed that Jamaica was in high demand in some key states in the U.S.
In fact, the Caribbean Island has already set a record for tourism for the first five months of the year and thanked people with special hotel deals.
“As part of our efforts to reengage with our major airline
partners and strengthen our relationships, we met with Senior Executives from
JetBlue to look at strategic ways to improve our arrivals figures out of the
U.S.,” said Bartlett. “It is encouraging to know that Jamaica remains high on
the list of destinations that JetBlue customers want to visit."
"Jamaica
remains one of the most connected destinations in the Caribbean and this has
been a strategic and deliberate effort to ensure growth in our arrivals and
earnings," Bartlett continued. "Airlift is therefore critical to supporting our growth strategy and
we are working to secure more seats for the destination.”
The meeting is part of the Minister’s mega multi-city marketing blitz in the U.S., which will take him to New York, Chicago, and Dallas.
“JetBlue has been a trusted partner, and we look forward to this
continued partnership that will enable us to increase arrivals,” said Jamaica’s
Director of Tourism, Donovan White.
