JetBlue Airways made a significant donation for Giving
Tuesday.
The airline contributed two million TrueBlue points to
Make-A-Wish for the unofficial holiday and as part of its JetBlue For Good
charitable program to wrap up the month of November.
JetBlue has partnered with the foundation for 12 years.
The organization helps facilitate wishes for terminally ill
children.
“I am inspired by the unwavering commitment and passion from
our crewmembers and customers who consistently enable us to give back to the
local communities that we serve through our charity partners,” said Icema
Gibbs, a vice president with JetBlue, in a statement. “Our longstanding
partnership with Make-A-Wish is a great example of how we foster JetBlue’s
value of caring across our culture as we help create special moments of joy for
children and families across our network.”
Since September 2022, Make-A-Wish has redeemed 18.9 million
TrueBlue points as part of its partnership with JetBlue and the airline’s
points donation platform.
Since more than 70 percent of all wishes involve air travel
– such as flights to Walt Disney World in Orlando – JetBlue takes particular
pride in its role with the organization. Donating loyalty points plays a
significant part in helping the airline stay involved in Make-A-Wish and its 58
nationwide chapters.
"Make-A-Wish needs almost 3 billion airline miles and
points to fulfill travel wishes for children battling critical illnesses each
year, making them a critical resource to grant the wish of every eligible child
waiting," said Leslie Motter, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America.
"Make-A-Wish is exceptionally grateful for our partnership with JetBlue.
This donation reflects our shared belief that a wish gives children a piece of
their childhood back."
JetBlue recently added new
service to the Caribbean.
