With the merry month of May almost upon us, plenty of sunshine-starved travelers will be feeling the pull to get away to some of America’s most appealing warm-weather destinations.
Answering the call, Southwest Airlines has launched its national ‘May Travel Included’ sale with one-way flights throughout the continental U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico on offer for as low as $59.
Those looking to book this offer will need to do so runs through 11:59 p.m. PT on April 20, and will need to be willing to fly on non-peak days, since the promotional rates are generally good for Tuesday and Wednesday flights only. Advertised rates may also be available on other days of the week, but there’s no guarantee of that.
Prospective travelers can find fares starting at just $59 one-way on popular short-haul flights, such as Atlanta to Nashville, Austin to New Orleans, Chicago to Cincinnati or Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Or, on coast-to-coast flights between domestic destinations like New York and Los Angeles, or Boston and Long Beach, you can find fares starting as low as $191 each way.
On interisland Hawaii flights, promotional fares start out even lower, from only $39 for a one-way trip. Per Travel + Leisure’s report, these low price points support Southwest’s recent attempts to make island-hopping in Hawaii easier in a concentrated effort to boost interisland travel within the Aloha State.
These limited-time discounted rates are available only on one-way ‘Wanna Get Away’ (lowest-priced, nonrefundable) flights, but you can cobble them together with other combinable fare types to create your ideal roundtrip itinerary. Also, it’s worth noting that tickets must be purchased as least 21 days ahead of your scheduled departure date.
While ‘Wanna Get Away’ fares are nonrefundable, if you need to, you can apply their value toward future Southwest Airlines travel, provided you cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes prior to departure time.
For travel to U.S. mainland and Hawaii destinations (including interisland trips), you’ll find the current offer valid for select spring, summer and autumn periods: specifically, from May 2 – May 24, 2023, and then from August 8 – November 1, 2023.
Overseas flights between the U.S. and San Juan, Puerto Rico, as well as from the Hawaiian Islands to the mainland U.S., are eligible only during similar travel windows: from May 2 – May 24, 2023, and then from August 15 – November 1, 2023.
