A British Airways flight bound for Barbados was delayed for five hours Sunday, all because it ran out of toilet paper and complimentary headphones, according to the Independent.

The flight was scheduled to depart London's Gatwick Airport shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday but was delayed for nearly two hours due to a toilet paper shortage and the (slightly less important) wrong type of headphones. Unfortunately, by the time those aircraft preparation issues were resolved, the flight crew ran out of hours and a new crew had to be brought in to operate the flight, delaying passengers another three hours.

The flight finally took off around 7 p.m. Sunday, landing in Barbados close to midnight.

Some passengers aboard Flight 2153 took their frustration to social media.

The Independent reported that the airline just recently switched ground handlers at Gatwick Airport.

"We are sorry customers were delayed after some of the many items needed for the flight weren't loaded onto the aircraft," a British Airways spokesperson told the Independent. "We gave customers refreshment vouchers so they could get something to eat and drink in the terminal and we got them away on their holidays as soon as we could."

As a result of the massive delay, the return flight from Barbados didn't depart until 1:35 a.m. Monday, more than five hours behind schedule.

According to the Independent, the airline could now be on the hook for more than $350,000 in compensation-based on European passengers' rights rules that entitle passengers on long-haul flights arriving four hours or more late to $630 in compensation.
