United Airlines
believes that some people could use a pick-me-up.
United is
introducing a new snack station aboard some of its select flights. The
'Grab-N-Go' station will be free and feature traditional snacks and bottles of
water. The complementary snacks will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The new feature
rolled out last week on a flight from Houston to Chicago. The snacks will be
available only after the main cabin has been served. The difference from the
current service is that it appears you don’t have to wait for a flight
attendant to bring you a snack or ask if you want a beverage.
A United
spokesperson also said that the selection of the snacks will be dependent on
the length of the flight.
The snack station will only be
available on United's fleet of new A321neo aircraft. The service will only be
available on a flight of 801 miles or more in its introductory stages.
The new snack
station is just part of several changes being made by United.
Earlier this year,
the airline tried a new boarding system in which it seats from the outside in.
That is, those with a ticket to sit by the window get seated first, then the
middle, then the aisle.
The carrier also
plans to revamp its entertainment system on select planes by 2025.
