This fall, it will be easier than ever for travelers in the Northeast to access one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, thanks to United Airlines’ latest route launch.
The carrier just announced it plans to begin nonstop flights from its hub at Newark/New York to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands in late October 2026. The route will make United the only airline to offer service between the New York City area and St. Croix’s Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX).
Flights will start on October 31, 2026, aboard United’s Boeing 737-700 planes, which feature 126 seats, including 12 business class seats.
The route will operate on Saturdays, with planes departing Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) at 9:03 a.m. and arriving in St. Croix at 1:20 p.m. on the northbound leg, flights will take off from St. Croix at 2:25 p.m. and land at EWR at 6:58 p.m.
St. Croix is known for its white-sand beaches, bright turquoise waters, world-class snorkeling, lush rainforests, and rich historical sites such as forts that date back centuries. The island is a territory of the United States, so U.S. citizens do not need a passport to visit.
As an American territory, St. Croix is also home to the easternmost point in the U.S., Point Udall, which offers windswept views over the Atlantic and stunning sunsets.
St. Croix will bring United’s total number of Caribbean destinations it serves from Newark up to 23. The airline also operates a nonstop route from EWR to the US Virgin Island of St. Thomas.
