JetBlue unveiled a brand new livery at Boston Logan International Airport Monday, revealing a black and gold Airbus A320 aircraft dedicated to the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL).
"Bear Force One" departed for Raleigh, North Carolina Monday afternoon ahead of the Bruins' matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 3 of the NHL's Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday night.
The new livery is JetBlue's first dedicated to an NHL team and the third dedicated to a Boston professional sports team. JetBlue revealed a Boston Celtics-themed livery this time last year. The New York-based low-cost airline is the leading carrier in Boston in terms of number of flights, customers carried and nonstop destinations served.
Bear Force One's unique paint scheme features a large-scale version of the Bruins' famous spoked-B logo on the tailfin and a "Boston's Team Since 1924" wordmark next to the boarding door.
"We couldn't think of a better time to celebrate our six-year partnership with the Boston Bruins. As the team continues on in the Eastern Conference Finals, this new livery will make it easier for Bruins fans to show off their black and gold fanfare, and cheer on their team not only during the playoffs but year-round as it flies across JetBlue's network of 100-plus destinations," JetBlue Chief Commerical Officer Marty St. George said in a statement.
"For the past six years, the Bruins and JetBlue have had a very strong relationship," added Boston Bruins President Cam Neely. "JetBlue has been a great partner and it's fantastic to see one of their aircraft representing the Black and Gold as it travels around the country."
The Bruins currently lead the Hurricanes 2-0 in their best-of-seven playoff series and are just six wins away from their seventh Stanley Cup title and first since 2011.
