Royal Caribbean has extended its suspension of calls to Labadee, its private destination in Haiti, through June 2027.
“This decision was made with the safety and well-being of our guests and crew members in mind,” according to a statement shared with USA TODAY. “We have communicated these changes directly with guests.”
According to the statement, the company has identified alternate destinations and positions for members of the Labadee team.
The company had previously said it would skip Labadee through the end of 2026. The U.S. State Department has a Level 4 travel advisory—the highest rating—in place for the country, citing a high risk of crime, kidnapping, terrorism, unrest and limited health care.
The last time a Royal Caribbean ship visited Labadee was in early 2025. The company also paused visits to the destination in 2024.
The leased land around Labadee allows Royal Caribbean guests to enjoy a variety of activities on five stretches of private beach nestled between the mountains and the sea. There is also a half-mile zip line, water slides, wave runners, private cabanas and more. The resort area has its own private security force.
