Qatar Airways announced Monday it has bolstered its service to the Atlanta market with the addition of flights on the Airbus A350-900.
As the only airline to offer daily, nonstop flights between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Hamad International Airport, Qatar Airways now connects travelers to more than 150 destinations worldwide from the Doha airport.
Monday’s inaugural celebration featured a water cannon salute, a Qatar Airways-themed cake for passengers and complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi during the maiden flight.
“We are exceptionally proud to deploy the state-of-the-art A350 aircraft on our popular Atlanta-Doha route,” Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said in a statement. “Since our arrival in Atlanta in 2016, we’ve been honored to provide the utmost travel experience to the local community, as Atlanta has been and continues to be a key route for business and leisure traffic.”
“With our extensive network and Doha-based hub, we offer geographic advantages other airlines cannot; conveniently connecting passengers to the Far East, Africa, and the Middle East,” Al Baker continued. “With our A350 arrival, Atlantans will continue to enjoy unprecedented levels of comfort and innovation that will meet their long-haul demands.”
As for the new Airbus A350-900, the plane features 36 seats in Business Class and 247 seats in Economy Class. Regardless of where passengers sit, they can enjoy high-speed Wi-Fi, more than 4,000 entertainment options, LED mood lighting and the optimal air management system.
Qatar Airways recently launched several international services as part of an expansion plan, including new routes to Thailand and Australia. The carrier also plans to debut new routes over the next two years, including to destinations such as the United Kingdom, Portugal, Philippines, Greece, and Spain.
