Forget your previous notions of an airport, because Singapore's jewel is changing the game.
Mashable unveils plans for Changi Airport's newest extension, a structure called the Jewel complex.
It's a verdant wonderland that seems like something ripped out of some Las Vegas blueprint, featuring hedge mazes, fancy walkways, slides and a massive waterfall that looms as the impressive centerpiece.

Straits Times has a video highlighting the possibilities and illustrating that an airport doesn't have to be a place that you feel stuck at but a location you might actually enjoy ambling about.
We normally get excited if our own airport gets a new restaurant or complement of shops. Changi is getting what looks to be its own bona fide attraction that could very well cause you to walk briskly from the plane - and not because you are late for your connecting flight.
It's just part of being the apex of airports. Skytrax announced in March that Changi Airport had won its coveted best airport award for the fifth year in a row.
CNN's Karla Cripps explained at the time, "Among the amenities spread through its three terminals are two 24-hour movie theaters screening the latest blockbusters for free, a rooftop swimming pool and a butterfly garden."
This is an airport that understands how to entertain its guests regardless of how long they are in the airport.
Looking at the airport's website, it's easy to see that Jewel will be much like the location's other attractions. It's not a place just to kill time but a chance to make some travel memories.
Canopy Park will feature sky nets that will offer visitors the chance to walk on safety nets 25 meters above the ground. There will also be a few slides and various mazes to ensure you have something to do other than work on catching up on social media posts.
Its Forest Valley will be just as enticing, as a "five-story garden, housing one of the largest indoor collections of plants in Singapore"
Then there is the real star of the new enclosure, the Rain Vortex. It's a 40-meter waterfall that will demand you take out the smartphone and selfie stick.

There is no clear date yet for Jewel's opening. The website merely explains that it will open sometime in early 2019.
It will be an expansive addition that will also include a hotel as well as retail and dining options for visitors.
Channel News Asia quotes chief executive of Jewel Changi Airport Development Hung Jean who explains, "Increasingly, people are making travel itineraries on their own, and they are giving more time when they make their transits or transfer stops."
The report continues: "Passengers then make a conscious choice over which airport to transit at, while considering which airport is most well-connected, promises a smooth journey, and offers the most facilities," she added.
Certainly, Changi has already designated itself an airport you must experience prior to its 2019 addition - this just sweetens the deal.
