Using the subway is one of the most efficient ways to travel in bigger cities, but passengers looking to board a train in the Czech Republic's capital city of Prague will notice something missing when they arrive at the new station right outside the city's international airport.
There is a set of 32 steps that lead from the A-line Nadrazi Veleslavin station to the bus stop that takes travelers to the nearby Vaclav Havel Airport, but there is no escalator.
According to The Associated Press, the Nadrazi Veleslavin station project cost an estimated 20 billion koruna - that would be $787 million in the United States - to complete, but there was no mention of an escalator in the design for the main entrance and exit for the new station.
There is an escalator in the station, but it leads to a newer station that has not been built yet.
Whoops.
In order to combat the potential issues this oversight would likely cause, the local airport is hiring employees who will be tasked with helping passengers bring their luggage from the subway up to the bus station.
The porters will be on duty from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time every day and the service will not cost passengers anything. More than three million airport customers use the terminal each year, according to the Daily Mail.
Spokesman for Vaclav Havel Airport, Michal Rehorek, told the Daily Mail that "the public transit authority is responsible for building a new escalator."
