A Carnival Cruise Line ship rescued two men from the Gulf of Mexico on Monday.
The two men were floating in a kayak off the coast of Isla Mujeres, Mexico, when staffers aboard Carnival Jubilee spotted them.
“They were welcomed onto the ship safely and were evaluated by the ship’s medical staff and given first aid and food,” according to the cruise line.

Carnival’s team worked with Mexican Navy officials to arrange a transfer for the two men not long after the rescue.
The vessel, meanwhile, was able to maintain its regular schedule and headed to Mahogany Bay in Roatan, Honduras, for a port call on Tuesday.

The 5,374-guest Carnival Jubilee is the newest vessel in the line’s fleet, having made its debut in late December. It departed from Galveston on Sunday for a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise.
This is far from the first time a cruise ship has helped rescue stranded people. In December, crew aboard Carnival Vista saved six men whose cargo vessel had capsized near the Dominican Republic. In August, Carnival’s ship Mardi Gras rescued a couple from a sailboat in the Bahamas and, in April, Carnival Spirit rescued 24 people near the Dominican Republic.
