Carnival Cruise Line will add several exciting Fun Ship 2.0 features to the Carnival Fascination before it returns to year-round departures from San Juan, Puerto Rico on February 18, 2018.
The remodel will take place during a two-week, multi-million-dollar dry dock procedure in Freeport, The Bahamas on February 4-17, 2018.
"We can't wait for our guests to experience these exciting new features aboard Carnival Fascination when she returns to her year-round homeport of San Juan early next year," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, in a press release.
Currently, the Fascination is under charter by FEMA, housing relief workers in St. Croix. By the time it resumes regular operations, it will have added the following food and beverage venues:
-Guy's Burger Joint: From celebrity chef and Food Network personality Guy Fieri comes the complimentary poolside eatery. Gourmet burgers and fries are freshly prepared in a California car culture atmosphere.
-RedFrog Rum Bar: To wash the grill items down are nearby Caribbean rum-based frozen drinks and beers like the line's signature ThirstyFrog Red on tap.
-BlueIguana Cantina: Adjacent to Guy's is the poolside Mexican venue for free custom burritos and tacos on homemade tortillas. It can all be finished off at the extensive toppings and salsa bar.
-BlueIguana Tequila Bar: Complementing the cantina are Mexican tequila-based frozen drinks and beers.
-Bonsai Sushi Express: Taking the concept of the full-service Bonsai Sushi restaurants found elsewhere in the fleet to a more convenient level, this is home to delicious sushi, sashimi, rolls and more.
-Alchemy Bar: This creative watering hole is run by "pharmacists" who "prescribe" custom cocktails based on patrons' moods.
-Cherry on Top: Great for all ages, this shop fills bags from a wide array of bulk candy bins as well as other novelty gifts, custom apparel and more.
All of this adds to the already extensive list of available attractions onboard, including the WaterWorks aqua park and its 300-foot-long Twister water slide, Seuss at Sea kids club and extensive entertainment. The Punchliner Comedy Club, Playlist Productions shows and "Hasbro, The Game Show" are passenger favorites.
Once complete, there will only be a handful of Carnival ships left to receive the full complement of Fun Ship 2.0 features.
On February 18, 2018, the Fascination will resume its seven-day southern Caribbean sailings from San Juan to St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Kitts, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Since November 30, 2017, other Carnival ships have returned to visiting Puerto Rico during port calls.
