AmaWaterways has selected Cruise Planners CEO Michelle Fee as the godmother of the AmaSerena river ship, which will enter service in Europe in April.
"All of us at AmaWaterways are extremely excited and honored to announce that Michelle Fee will be the godmother of our newest custom-designed ship, the AmaSerena," said Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-owner of AmaWaterways. "As the CEO of one of the largest home-based travel franchise organizations in the nation, Michelle has made many contributions to the travel industry, and we are delighted to have her join our AmaWaterways family."
The 164-passenger AmaSerena will have staterooms of 210 to 235 square feet with twin balconies and four suites measuring 300 square feet. The ship will have several dining venues with unlimited fine wine, a heated pool with swim-up bar, complimentary in-room Internet access, fitness center and spa, and a fleet of bicycles for passengers to ride on their own or on guided bike tours. It will operate on the Danube, Main, and Rhine rivers.
"I am honored to be selected as godmother of the new AmaSerena," Fee said. "I love how each AmaWaterways ship is custom designed with amazing attention to detail, and the line focuses on luxury service while still offering an intimate, family-run atmosphere. At Cruise Planners, we pride ourselves on creating a similar culture and I am tickled to be godmother of AmaSerena. I look forward to all of the celebrations and christening of this beautiful new ship."
Fee co-founded Cruise Planners in 1994, and the company has flourished under her leadership. It recently ranked as No. 22 on Entrepreneur's Annual Franchise 500 List, making it the top franchise opportunity in the Travel Industry category for 12 consecutive years.
Fee sits on the advisory boards of major several cruise lines and the Cruise Lines International Association. She was inducted into CLIA's Cruise Industry Hall of Fame in 2013. In 2009, she was honored as one of the "Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds" in sales and marketing by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International, and the following year was named one of the "Top 25 Most Influential Business Women" by the South Florida Business Journal.
