National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions is updating and expanding its popular youth engagement program.
Formerly known as National Geographic Global Explorers, the program is being rebranded as National Geographic Explorers-in-Training.
Since it launched in 2017, the program has helped thousands of young travelers develop a passion for exploration, conservation and storytelling on National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions voyages.
“We see more and more multigenerational families traveling with us every year, and our expanded National Geographic Explorers-in-Training program is designed to be an engaging educational experience for our young explorers,” says Natalya Leahy, chief executive officer of Lindblad Expeditions. “It is not your standard ‘kids club,’ it is a highly acclaimed, age-appropriate expedition program for young travelers—and this new name better reflects its essence and our mission.”
The program is led by a certified field educated and supported by National Geographic experts in everything from photography to marine science. Young travelers who participate can expect hands-on activities like experiments, games, storytelling challenges and more.
They can learn how to drive a Zodiac boat, collect plankton and log wildlife sightings in their personal, region-specific field notebook, which they receive at the start of the voyage. At the end of the expedition, each participant receives a commemorative patch and a certificate.
The National Geographic Explorers-in-Training program is available on several family-friendly itineraries in Alaska, Antarctica, Baja California, Iceland and the Galápagos.
