Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville restaurant and the 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar are coming to the new Norwegian Escape cruise ship, Norwegian Cruise Line announced with a live Jimmy Buffett concert for company employees on Dec. 4.
The partnership with Margaritaville extends to Norwegian's private island destinations, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas and the new Harvest Caye scheduled to open in Belize next fall, as well as other ships in the fleet.
"Jimmy Buffett is an icon who embodies the island lifestyle and his Margaritaville lifestyle brand, which includes restaurants and bars in its portfolio, is a perfect fit for Norwegian Cruise Line and the incredible new Norwegian Escape, that will sail the Caribbean and offer our guests the first and only Margaritaville experience at sea," said Kevin Sheehan, CEO of Norwegain Cruise Holdings.
Buffet's restaurant and bar was inspired by his "Margaritaville" song that kindles the desire in everyone to escape the rate race for life ina tropical locale. The eatery has a menu with signature items like Cheeseburger in Paradise and Who's to Blame Margarita.
What's more, the Margaritaville will be a complimentary eatery on the 4,200-passenger Norwegian Escape.
In addition to the restaurant, the ship's 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar will be located on The Waterfront, the boardwalk-style indoor-outdoor area on Norwegian ships. The 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar will feature live nightly performances.
Norwegian Escape will begin year-round weekly Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami to St. Thomas, Tortola and Nassau starting Nov. 14, 2015.
Since launching its first restaurant in Key West, Margaritaville has expanded into many popular U.S. destinations as well as tropical locations. There is a Margaritaville restaurant on Grand Turk, in the cruise center developed by Carnival Corp.
Margaritaville Resorts are located in Pensacola Beach, Fla.; Bossier City, La; Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; and a flagship slated to open in Hollywood Beach, Fla., next year. There also is a Margaritaville Casino location at the Flamingo Resort in Las Vegas as well as gaming properties in Bossier City, Atlantic City, and, later next year, in Tulsa, Okla.
