Norwegian Viva set sail from Galveston on Saturday, officially kicking off her inaugural season in Texas.
The Norwegian Cruise Line vessel is spending the winter homeporting in Galveston, offering seven-day and 14-day Caribbean sailings from now through April.
The ship will visit destinations like Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; Roatan (Bay Islands), Honduras; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; St. John’s, Antigua; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; George Town, Grand Cayman; Harvest Caye; and Great Stirrup Cay.
“Expanding our offerings from popular, easily accessible ports allows us to bring unforgettable experiences closer to home for more travelers,” says Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “Norwegian Viva was thoughtfully designed for guests to live life to the fullest, and we’re proud to introduce this world-class cruising option to Texas.”
Norwegian Viva’s made its Galveston debut from the port’s new Cruise Terminal 16, a 165,000-square-foot terminal that opened in November. The ship will return to Galveston, Texas for her second winter season to the Caribbean from October 2026 through April 2027.
“Opening this terminal has allowed Norwegian Cruise Line to expand its presence in Galveston,” says Rodger Rees, port director and chief executive officer of Galveston Wharves. “The beautiful Norwegian Viva allows our cruisers the opportunity to experience a world-class cruise ship. The U.S. cruise market continues to select the Port of Galveston as a preferred debarkation point because of ships like Norwegian Viva.”
