Icon of the Seas has arrived at its home port of Miami, from which the ship will depart on its maiden voyage later this month.
The world’s largest cruise ship—a 250,800-gross-ton, 20-deck vessel—sailed into PortMiami on Wednesday amid plenty of fanfare. Royal Caribbean employees, executives and fans celebrated the 1,198-foot-long mega-ship’s arrival with banner planes, fireboat salutes and a party at the Pérez Art Museum.
Since Royal Caribbean took delivery of the ship from Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland in November, the vessel has been making its way across the Atlantic Ocean. Most recently, Icon of the Seas spent some time at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, for a crew party, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
Now that Icon of the Seas is in Miami, the cruise line will host a series of media tours and preview voyages. The ship’s first official cruise is scheduled to depart Jan. 27.

Offering 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, Icon of the Seas is packed with family-friendly amenities and features, including eight neighborhoods, the largest waterpark at sea, multiple pools and a variety of bars, restaurants, lounges and entertainment venues.
Icon of the Seas is the newest Oasis-class ship to join the line’s fleet. The vessel can accommodate 5,610 guests and 2,350 crew—including a furry, four-legged employee named Rover.
