Younger travelers are showing strong interest in cruising, according to new research from travel insurance provider Allianz Partners.
The survey found that 72 percent of past cruise passengers ages 25 to 34 say they are likely to book another cruise within the next 12 months.
Additionally, 60 percent of past cruise travelers across all age groups are likely to book another cruise within a year. Overall, 73 percent of respondents said they have a positive attitude toward cruising, and 71 percent reported having taken a cruise.
Among respondents ages 25 to 34, 43 percent said they love cruising and prefer it to other types of vacations.
The research also examined the relationship between travel insurance and cruise booking decisions. Among past cruise travelers who had previously purchased travel insurance, 76 percent said cruises offer good value for money compared with other types of vacations. Meanwhile, 77 percent said they would be more likely to book a cruise if they knew they had travel insurance coverage.
The survey found that 84 percent of past cruise travelers who had previously purchased travel insurance were very or somewhat concerned about losing money if they had to cancel a trip or something went wrong. Additionally, 65 percent said the upfront cost of a cruise makes trip cancellation a consideration.
Allianz Partners surveyed 1,000 U.S. adults ages 18 and older from August 26 to 31, 2026. All respondents had plans to travel and had previously purchased travel insurance. Cruise-specific findings were based on responses from 712 past cruise travelers.
"Travel protection should not feel separate from the cruise experience," says Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners. "When the value is communicated clearly, it can become part of how the industry builds loyalty, supports travelers and creates a more confident path from consideration to embarkation."
