Texas City Poised To Become Nation’s Third-Largest Cruise Port

It is not located in Florida or anywhere else on the East Coast. It is in Texas, but it is not Houston.

The Texas city poised to become the nation’s third-largest cruise port is none other than Galveston. 

For those of us of a certain age, it would make Glen Campbell proud. Galveston would be third behind Port Canaveral and Port Miami, both in Florida.

Galveston attracts about one million cruise travelers each year. 

City officials in Galveston have worked diligently over the years to make the city a true embarkation point for cruise lines, with Carnival, Disney, and Royal Caribbean being the three biggest companies that operate in Galveston.

For comparison, Port Canaveral processes 4.5 million cruise passengers per year, according to Sea Trade magazine, while Port Miami had a nearly 12 percent increase in passengers this year.
