Windstar Cruises is now the official cruise line of The O2.
The cruise line is now sponsoring the live music venue in London, which is owned by AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group).
Windstar Cruises and AEG are both owned by Colorado-based billionaire Philip Anschutz.
“AEG, The O2 and Windstar are all leaders in their respective categories, and we feel this is a great first step in a meaningful and rich collaboration,” says Christopher Prelog, president of Windstar Cruises.
The O2 hosts more than 200 events a year, including performances by well-known artists like U2, Trevor Noah, Adele, The Rolling Stones, Billie Eilish, Chris Rock, Madonna, Beyoncé and Drake. It also hosts sporting events, including the London 2012 Olympics, NBA season games, UFC and the Laver Cup.
As part of the new sponsorship, a Windstar model ship will be on display in the venue’s newest premium space, The NinetyThird by Qatar Airways. Windstar’s brand will also have a presence throughout the arena.
Windstar is trying to grow its footprint in the United Kingdom, which is the world’s second-largest cruise market. The company is also strengthening its presence by working with The Cruise Line, which recently launched a new U.K. website with pricing in pounds. It also created several Itineraries to appeal to U.K. travelers, including a series of 3- to 4-day cruises sailing roundtrip from London.
