Copenhagen Prepares Special Holiday Events

Copenhagen is promoting several New Years' events. As tradition goes, Copenhagen locals and visitors convene at the square of Amalienborg (www.ses.dk), the Royal Palace, for fireworks and to watch the Royal Guard Parade march through the plaza in their traditional red gala uniforms. A five-day firework festival is held in Tivoli (www.tivoli.dk) pleasure gardens from Dec. 26 to 30. Each of the five days is themed around the seasons of the year -- spring, summer, autumn and winter -- with the culmination being a New Year's themed show. The firework shows are accompanied by live music above Copenhagen's Concert Hall.
On New Year's Eve at the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel (www.radissonsas.com) guests can choose from five different events with a wide range of entertainment from a 12-course Danish menu at the Blue Elephant or a party at Mama's & Papa's with a buffet and entertainment provided by famous Danish musicians. Or try your luck in a game of chance in Northern Europe's largest casino, Casino Copenhagen, located inside the hotel. Copenhagen's annual New Year's Pan Dance is renowned within the international gay and lesbian scene.
