Mexico is an enchanting country, with a rich history, diverse culture and an effusively gracious sense of hospitality that has been charming visitors on vacations short and long for decades.
Most of the country's most sought-after destinations are no more than a couple of hours from the U.S. by air, making this warm and fascinating country a list-topper for international weekend excursions.
I've collected some of the best hotel and resort offers for Mexico this spring, so dust off your passport and head for the border to spend your weekend exploring the best our southern neighbor has to offer.
Advance Savings in Mexico City at Galeria Plaza Reforma
Located in the heart of the capital in the vibrant Zona Rosa and just blocks from the Paseo de la Reforma, the Galeria Plaza Reforma has newly renovated guest rooms and a distinctly Mexican approach to hospitality as it is part of a hotel group that operates a string of hotels across the nation.
Take in the mountain air, enjoy a cocktail at the rooftop pool bar or explore the culinary scene at the hotel's own restaurant, Almara.
Through April, guests who book their stays at least 60 days in advance will enjoy discounts of up to 40 percent off most room categories. Standard room rates start at $148 and are discounted as low as $89.
Fourth Night Free at Banyan Tree Mayakoba
For a longer weekend getaway on the Riviera Maya, consider Mayakoba, teeming with indigenous bird and fish species in a carefully cultivated ecosystem.
The villas of Asian luxury chain Banyan Tree blend Mexican culture and Asian hospitality, surrounding a lagoon-encircled main complex with a modern Thai restaurant, pool bar and indoor-outdoor luxury spa. Constructed upon a network of lagoons, Mayakoba means "village over the water" in the Maya language.
With a minimum four-night booking between now and December 20, pay for just three nights when booking the specific promotional rate, which is available both room-only and inclusive of breakfast.

Relax in the heart of the Yucatan at Hacienda Temozon
Far off the beaten path from resort areas like Cancun and Riviera Maya are the Luxury Collection's handful of converted haciendas. Deep in the heart of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, Hacienda Temozon is a converted estancia (estate) with 28 rooms and suites. It's the perfect hideaway for relaxation and time in the pool and spa when not exploring the centuries-old grounds and gardens or 17th-century church.
The hacienda is close to a wealth of surrounding Mayan archaeological sites for those wanting a glimpse of an even older civilization.
With a two-night minimum stay, the Spa Package includes a wellness welcome basket, 50-minute spa treatment for two, daily continental breakfast for two and a late 4 p.m. checkout. Package rates start at $345 per night plus tax.
