If you've ever wanted to live in Italy and do so on the cheap, this would be your chance.

The Guardian reports the mayor of a quaint Italian town is busting out the figurative defibrillator in the form of an economic incentive to move there.

Daniele Galliano is the mayor of Bormida, a town that holds the distinction of being relatively close to Savona. It's that distinction that has pulled some from the town in search of work.

With a dwindling population, Galliano has decided to get creative, launching an initiative wherein prospective residents would get €2,000 (about $2,175) to move to Bormida, assuring accommodations for the low price of €50 (about $54) a month.

As the report explains, you will have an issue finding work. But if you like a rural life, alone with your verdant landscape and farm animals, this is the place for you.

As noted, this plan still needs approval, but one quoted local official seems optimistic: "We're still working out the plan, but anyone is welcome to come and live here. We're a small community but very welcoming. We're high up in a mountain area but also not far from the sea - it's a healthy lifestyle, the air is very clean."

If you aren't the party-scene type and don't mind things being eerily quiet, Bormida sounds like a dream destination.

The town has four restaurants, which should seriously curtail your dilemma of where to eat for dinner.

An owner of one of those establishments, Oddone Giuseppe, states, via The Guardian: "There is nothing much to do here. But life is so simple and natural, we have forests, goats, the church, and plenty of good food. Life would definitely be free of stress."

Bormida is situated in Italy's Liguria, which boasts both the aforementioned Savona as well as its capital city of Genoa. This mountain town is also in the eastern section of the region, making it about two hours from Nice, France.

In all, Bormida sounds like a swell place to kick up your feet and enjoy the simple things in life.

But if you are the fussy sort who enjoys five restaurants at your disposal, you might want to look elsewhere.
