PROMPERÚ, the Trade, Tourism and Investment Commission of
Peru has announced that Lima
will host The World’s 50 Best Restaurants on November 4, 2026.
This marks the first time the prestigious awards ceremony is
held in South
America, the landmark event bringing the global restaurant community
together in one of the world’s most exciting food capitals.
In 2025, Peru’s Maido
was named The World’s Best Restaurant, becoming the second Peruvian restaurant
to earn the top spot after Central winning the distinction in 2023.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 will feature a
week-long program of events to include 50 Best Talks, collaborative 50 Best
Signature Sessions dinners, the Chefs’ Feast and the awards ceremony. Guests
will have the opportunity to enjoy Peru’s diverse culinary regions through specially
curated gastronomic experiences.
The event gives travelers another reason to visit Peru as beyond
its award-winning restaurants, food is one of the strongest motivations for those
coming to Peru. The country offers an extraordinary range of culinary experiences,
cooking classes, guided market tours, visits to traditional picanterias,
immersive food tours and regional cuisine that celebrates the flavors of the
Coast, the Andes and the Amazon.
According to PROMPERÚ, gastronomy ranks among the top
reasons leisure travelers choose Peru, particularly Millennials and Generation
X. Visitors consistently describe Peruvian cuisine as authentic, diverse and
innovative, praising its unique native ingredients, exceptional biodiversity,
and the creativity with which traditional flavors are reimagined by chefs
across the country.
