Six Flags New England has snagged two more honors to add to the amusement park's trophy case.
According to Six Flags, USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice travel award contest named the Wicked Cyclone roller coaster as the Best New Amusement Park Attraction and Bizarro as the Best Roller Coaster.
There was a stacked field for the Best New Amusement Park Attraction award, but Wicked Cyclone took home the top honor. The ride opened in May, the first hybrid roller coaster to be built on the East Coast and one of only five on the planet.
Built using some of the original Cyclone's wooden structure, the Wicked Cyclone adds the element of a steel roller coaster and makes the ride a unique blend of new and old. Standing 10 stories tall and clocking in at top speeds of 55 miles per hour, the mixture of inversions and Zero G Rolls made this the best new ride of 2015.
In addition, Bizarro took home the award for Best Roller Coaster as it has many years in the past from several media outlets, including being voted No. 1 roller coaster in the world by Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards five times since 2003.
The award-winning roller coaster was built in 2000 and has thrilled guests with its 5,400 feet of track, a 20-story lift hill and speeds reaching 77 miles per hour. Add in the one-of-a-kind views as the ride moves along the Connecticut River, and riders experience the beauty of the surroundings while contending with unbridled fear.
