Anyone who enjoys farm-to-table freshness will flip over this sushi restaurant that offers the same, only the farm is a giant tank of water teeming with fish.
CBS News (h/t Eater) reports on Tokyo's Zauo restaurant, which is located in the Shibuya district and has aims of opening a location stateside in New York.
What sets this sushi locale apart from its countless competitors is that you get to fish for your meal, sort of.
Zauo has taken the hours of toil out of usual fishing expeditions, providing a tank where a bunch of fish eagerly await that bait that will eventually lead to their demise.
But don't get sad for the poor fish, because the delicacies are, according to the video below, delicious:
Even the website offers a whimsical welcoming for visitors to its main page. And if you are wondering, getting your own meal makes fiscal sense.
The restaurant explains on its website: "If you catch the fish yourself, it's cheaper!? The regular price of a red-snapper is ¥3,360 (about $27), but if caught it can be eaten for only ¥2,499 (about $20), just as a flounder is normally ¥3,990 ($32), but when caught it becomes ¥3,129 ($25)."
CBS News explains it's hard to get noticed in a place like Tokyo: "Tokyo, a city of 13 million people, boasts options to fit any mood, and establishments are not above a gimmick to lure customers. CBS News has visited cat cafés, which cater to feline-lovers who pay to pet by the hour."

Zauo has managed to deliver great food with an added catch: You get to engage in the easiest fishing expedition known to man. It may be one step away from restaurant staff pouring a fish into a bowl for you, but the patrons seem to adore the idea.
It's much more entertaining than an afternoon on the lake with nothing to show for it.
