The highly anticipated opening date for Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios is right around the corner.
Officials from the Walt Disney World Resort revealed Friday the new theme park land will open to the public with plenty of typical Disney fanfare June 30. The Toy Story themed portion of Hollywood Studios will bring the movie franchise to life for travelers visiting Orlando.
Once guests arrive in Andy's backyard, they will be greeted by iconic Toy Story characters, including Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear. One of the most anticipated attractions at the new land will be the Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster, which Andy assembled using his Mega Coaster Play Kit.
Another top attraction will be the Alien Swirling Saucers, which will transport the entire family into rocket ship toys with little green aliens. As riders spin on the galactic play set Andy won from Pizza Planet, the giant claw from the original movie will be hanging overhead.
"With set pieces, staging, attractions and experiences Toy Story Land represents the best of Walt Disney Imagineering's collaboration with our storytelling partners at Pixar Animation Studios," Walt Disney Parks and Resort chairman Bob Chapek said in a statement. "This new land will place guests inside the wondrous world of Woody, Buzz and their pals - and invite everyone to experience the joy of being a toy."
Also opening this summer will be Woody's Lunch Box, an eating establishment shaped like Andy's lunchbox that will feature classic American fare, old-fashioned soda floats, and other Toy Story-themed specialties.
Throughout Toy Story Land, guests will see oversized crayons, green army men, Rubik's cubes, tinker toys and other familiar toys and game pieces from the movie franchise incorporated into the landscape.
