Back in 1971, Walt Disney World opened, giving Eastern Air Lines the opportunity to create a commercial-although it would be better to call it a marketing fever dream.
Welcome back to the nostalgic corner of TravelPulse, where we take a weekly look back at commercials, rides and theme parks of yesteryear.
This week we discovered one YouTube gem that features a commercial for the former Eastern Air Lines touting its service to nearby Walt Disney World, which opened its doors in October 1971.
Hoping to infuse a bit of Disney wonder into the proceedings, the airline decided to go with costumed characters for the commercial.
Let's just say the ad doesn't age well:

As Wikipedia reminds, Eastern Air Lines was active from 1926 to 1991. Twenty years before its demise, it created this video that we will never forget. Trust us, we have tried.
The commercial's plot is simple enough, a young girl is desperate to find the Magic Kingdom, only to run into myriad characters who offer little help in the way of directions.
That's when she happens upon a Peter Pan-like character who promises to show her the way.
That's when she wakes up and discovers that she can totally get to Disney World. She just needs to book a flight on the next flight out of town. I hope Eastern takes whatever credit card this young girl is holding.
Now we will spend the rest of the day fighting the need to sleep.
