It's time once again to visit Wally World, which means a cavalcade of comedy at the expense of the Griswold clan and the introduction of Chris Hemsworth's enormous…well, just watch the trailer.
Previously we wrote on the upcoming reboot that will open to theaters this summer on July 29. Finally, we have a glimpse of what to expect when Ed Helms takes over as clueless patriarch.
Millions grew up watching Chevy Chase's Clark Griswold take his family on one ill-fated vacation after another.
With Griswold and wife Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) living life in what looks to be a new home, it's son Rusty Griswold's turn to take the clan on a cross-country holiday to the famed fictional locale known as Wally World.
Comedy Central uploaded the following trailer to YouTube. Now we do have to warn that there are most definitely laughs along with some extremely NSFW language and images. So watch accordingly:
Now many are undoubtedly cautious about the prospects of rebooting a classic franchise. However, fears are allayed during a hilariously self-aware moment in the trailer.
Helms' Rusty Griswold assuages family and audiences with, "The new vacation will stand on its own, Ok?"
From there we are promised a bevy of hilarity mixed with nostalgic nods to the original, such as a tender albeit extremely awkward discussion between father and son at a motel's pool.
And, of course, there is the showstopper that is Hemsworth's character who is aptly named Stone Crandall. We would like to make a joke about Thor's hammer, but I think we are all above that.
In any case, the most appropriate review of the trailer might be that it's promising. We won't know until July as to how this stacks up against the original.
But at the very least we have a trailer that gives us hope that we will have another movie that allows us to laugh at the Griswold's holiday mishaps.
