This New York City drawing time-lapse is colossally amazing.
Laughing Squid's Rebecca Escamilla spotted the following video from artist Pat Vale, which packs a city's worth of wonder into a few short moments.
While just posted to Vimeo about a week ago, Vale explains through the Big Animal channel that the actual art was created late last year while also introducing audiences to the title of the work: "Colossus is a drawing that I made in New York during December 2014."
Normally we are accustomed to time-lapse videos featuring concrete, metal and pavement.
This clever take featuring sharp lines and brilliant artistry is refreshing and beyond mesmerizing:
Escamilla explains that while just a couple of minutes in Internet video time, Vale spent a grueling month carefully crafting an iconic city: "He spent four long weeks capturing the dense crowd of buildings in his view in the large-scale illustration."
By now you are no stranger to time-lapse videos, which fill the Internet in ubiquity like cat memes.

Yet there is plenty of room for Vale's masterpiece that captures New York in a way an actual photograph never could, encapsulating one artist's vision of a bustling and chaotic city in one serene moment in time.
