As the busy Spring Break travel season is top-of-mind, AAA shares its top trending destinations and practical advice ahead of the popular holiday week.
Domestic flights to popular spring break destinations are 2 percent more expensive this year from 2025, averaging $815 roundtrip.
The most popular destinations are overwhelmingly in Florida, including Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Tampa, all in the top ten.
Those heading to their destination or renting a car after flying are visiting Orlando, Los Angeles and Phoenix. Top bookings by state for spring break include Florida, California, Texas, Hawaii and Arizona.
While domestic airfare is up, flights to popular Caribbean and international destinations are trending slightly cheaper this year, averaging $1,300 roundtrip.
A record 21.7 million Americans are expected to cruise in 2026, with many families choosing to cruise over spring break.
Top international destinations for Europe include Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, London and Barcelona.
AAA offers several tips for travelers to consider ahead of spring break:
- Enroll in the State Department’s Safe Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)
- Consider purchasing travel insurance, and if you’re concerned about acts of war, consider purchasing additional protection like Global Rescue
- Prepare well for the airport, including allowing for extra time through security checkpoints
- Remain vigilant and well-informed during your trip, especially if you’re heading abroad
