Nassau’s
premier luxury mega-resort, Baha Mar, has just unveiled plans for expansion
with the addition of a fourth luxury resort as the next step in its ongoing
development. The new resort and residences will further enhance Baha Mar’s “luxury
of choice” collection, located on the island's iconic Cable Beach. Construction is set to
break ground in 2026, with an anticipated opening in 2029. Just today, Baha Mar
and the Bahamian government inked their Heads of Agreement, indicating approval
to set the project’s wheels in motion.
Designed by the
acclaimed architectural and design firm Foster + Partners, the new resort will
be located on 12 acres of pristine beachfront, offering a spectacular outlook
onto the turquoise waters of Cable Beach. The property will feature
approximately 350 guest rooms and 50 luxury branded residences, with the
specific hospitality brand to be announced at a later date. Complementing the
accommodation offerings will be four new dining venues, including an Omakase
restaurant on the rooftop and a celebrity-chef-led beachfront restaurant.
Additionally, the
resort will house a 14,000-square-foot world-class spa and fitness center, luxury
retail venue, multiple swimming pools, an open-air bar and entertainment
lounges, plus various family-friendly amenities. It will also boast 25,000
square feet of event space, comprised of a 10,000-square-foot ballroom,
6,000-square-foot junior ballroom, pre-function space, breakout rooms,
boardroom and adjoining outdoor areas to cater to events of all scales, from
corporate functions to personal celebrations.

This new, as-yet-unnamed
luxury resort will be constructed on the site of the now-demolished Melia
Nassau Beach, which shut its doors in 2021 as part of Baha Mar’s broader
redevelopment efforts. Currently, the Baha Mar resort compound employs over
5,000 associates, and continues to spearhead investment in The Bahamas’
hospitality sector, which constitutes the nation’s leading industry. The
construction phase of the new project is expected to generate jobs for 400
Bahamians, with an additional 500 permanent positions available once the resort
is fully operational.

In addition to the
new resort’s own luxury features, guests will have full access to the larger
Baha Mar complex’s world-class amenities, including the nearby $200-million
Baha Bay waterpark next door, ensuring that guests can enjoy all of the excitement
and relaxation of a luxury vacation to Baha Mar. Generous room sizes will start
at over 550 square feet, and pricing will fall between those of the existing
SLS and Rosewood properties.
