Barcelo Maya Grand Resort-comprised of Barcelo Maya Palace, Barcelo Maya Beach, Barcelo Maya Caribe, Barcelo Maya Colonial and Barcelo Maya Tropical-is poised to become one of the largest all-inclusive resort complexes in Riviera Maya.
On Monday, the resort revealed plans for an ambitious $250 million expansion that will include the addition of Barcelo Maya Riviera-a brand new exclusive adults-only, all-inclusive resort-in December 2019.
But that's not all. In May 2020, Barcelo Maya Grand Resort will unveil the largest convention center in the region in Barcelo Maya Arena.
The new adults-only Barcelo Maya Riviera resort will boast a whopping 850 guestrooms, more than half of which will feature gorgeous ocean views. What's more, every guestroom balcony will come equipped with a hot tub to further enhance the romantic relaxation.
The resort will also offer as many as 110 Swim-Up Suites and Junior Suites.
Other highlights future guests can look forward to include smart locks via a smartphone app, five bars, four pools and five restaurants.
The resorts mouthwatering culinary offerings will include four specialty restaurants and one buffet-style restaurant. The former will feature Mexican cuisine with a "Tacoyaki" bar, French fine dining, Italian and Japanese, which will include 10 Tepanyaki tables and one Robatayaki table for fireside cooking.
Meanwhile, the new 190,000-square-foot Barcelo Maya Arena will offer guests customizable multi-purpose space for expos, conventions and events. Features include a spacious, 3,400 square feet terrace offering fresh air and spectacular views along with a lower level dining venue where guests will enjoy exceptional food and atmosphere.
Beach receptions at Playa Azul will be ideal for wedding ceremonies as it boasts stunning ocean views.

The expansion announcement comes one month after Barcelo Maya Grand Resort debuted Riviera Maya's first and only amusement park within a hotel.
