MICHES, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - Club Med continues to expand to new heights.
The all-inclusive resort company that helped put Cancun, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on the map will be adding a new destination to its pioneering innovations.
Miches is a lavish region along the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic. This tropical paradise will be home to a new 5-Trident resort for Club Med, with current plans for it to open in December 2019.
"Club Med first discovered the unmatched beauty of the Dominican Republic in 1978, when our resort in Punta Cana opened its doors. We pioneered the destination into what it is today," Xavier Mufraggi, CEO of Club Med, North America, during the official groundbreaking ceremony of Club Med Michès in the Dominican Republic on Thursday, May 3.
"Fast-forward 40 years, and with the assistance of our partners and the warm, welcoming spirit of the Dominican people, we continue our world-renowned pioneering spirit. In less than two short years, we will open the doors to our Club Med resort in Miches, introducing this tropical destination and its beautiful beaches to the rest of the world."
The special groundbreaking event included Club Med executives, government officials of the Dominican Republic, including H. E. Danilo Medina Sánchez, the President of the Dominican Republic, as well as various business, real estate and development partners that contributed to the massive project.
While the tentative name now for the new resort is Club Med Michès, guests from all over the globe will have the opportunity to vote for the official name on Facebook beginning on May 8. The winning resort name will be announced on May 10, 2018.
This gorgeous oasis of natural wonder is just the latest in advancements for Club Med, which plans to add more than 15 new resorts to its portfolio by the end of 2020.
The 5-Trident rating for Club Med Michès is equivalent to a 5-star resort. Club Med has its own rating system, and this new resort will be part of Club Med's Exclusive Collection, becoming the first 5-Trident resort to open in the Americas.
Miches is an untapped sanctuary filled with stunning beaches and majestic mountain views. Don't be surprised if this location is a prime vacation destination for many in the coming years.
Located about 90 minutes outside of Punta Cana, Miches provides travelers an array of activities such as Laguna Limón, a nature reserve with breathtaking waterfalls and Samaná Bay, a beautiful bay known for humpback whale watching.
Additionally, Miches is home to Montaña Redonda, which translates to "rounded mountain." It gives guests a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding landscape and is also known for its photo-famous swing.
Of course, the exquisite beaches with views of mountains in the distance will certainly keep guests captivated during their stay.
Some of the specifics of the resort are still in the works, but you can plan on this 93-acre resort being filled with luxurious rooms, fine dining and the exceptional service Club Med brings to each of its properties.
Club Med Michès will feature a boutique resort-within-a-resort concept. There will be an adults' exclusive area as well as a separate spot for a children's club. So, this resort will appeal to all ages and all walks of life.
The overall design will be inspired by the lush region of Miches, bringing an eco-chic atmosphere to all. And because it will be part of Club Med's Exclusive Collection, guests should be prepared to be blown away by the top-notch quality that will surround them.
"We realized that people want to have the accessibility to go in places with beautiful beaches, but also that people want to have experiences," Mufraggi said.
