Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts has received approval for a patent on the brand's guestroom of the future.
The WorkLife Room, which was originally introduced by the brand in 2017, is designed to help modern business travelers be more productive while also providing them with a space that fits their blended lifestyle.
"The patent approval of the Crowne Plaza brand's WorkLife Room is a major distinction - one that speaks to the concept's ground-breaking design, and one that demonstrates how the Crowne Plaza brand is redefining what a hotel room can be," Meredith Latham, regional vice president, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Americas said in a statement.
The WorkLife Room was developed as part of the Crowne Plaza Accelerate Program, Intercontinental Hotel Group's $200 million, multi-year investment aimed at transforming the brand in the Americas.
The innovative guestrooms feature a flexible environment and distinct zones that encourage guests to work, relax and recharge. Key aspects of the newly patented rooms include:
Angled bed. The newly repositioned bed opens up more space for the room's distinct zones. In addition, there's a cocooning headboard, Beautyrest mattress, plush linens and Sleep Advantage aromatherapy kit help guests rest.
Sofa nook. This multi-purpose space is designed for reading, watching TV, working, meeting with colleagues or kicking back with room service.
Desk area. Business travelers far and wide will rejoice over the uncluttered workspace the brand is providing, creating an area where guests can focus.
Welcome station. This space is designed to help guests get settled, offering a space for keys, bags and coats.
Bathroom. In WorkLife rooms, the bathrooms are modern and bright, designed to help guests feel re-energized by their routines.
What's more, because connectivity is key for the nearly any modern traveler, including business travelers, the WorkLife Room features fast, free Wi-Fi and enough charging stations (both USB and power outlets) to power as many as 14 devices.
The goal is to ensure that guests are never more than an arm's length away from a charging station and never have to move furniture to reach outlets. (Cue sighs of relief from travelers everywhere.)
The WorkLife Room is currently available in Crowne Plaza properties nationwide, including Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown; Crowne Plaza Downtown Denver; Crowne Plaza Farmington Hills - Novi; Crowne Plaza Cleveland at Playhouse Square; Crowne Plaza Suites Arlington - Ballpark - Stadium; and Crowne Plaza Springfield.
About 3,000 WorkLife Rooms are expected to be created by early 2019, including the brand's first-ever flagship property in the Americas, Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia.
