Hilton has arrived in the former royal capital of Myanmar.
Set amid four acres of gardens, the Hilton Mandalay opened yesterday. Featuring upscale accommodations in the center of Myanmar’s second-largest and fastest growing city, the 231-room hotel offers views of the Mandalay Palace and Mandalay Hill.
“Mandalay is an exciting destination for business and leisure travelers alike with its bustling industry and abundance of cultural, religious and historic attractions," Sean Wooden, vice president, brand management, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said in a statement. "We look forward to expanding our presence in this sought-after travel destination and introducing Hilton's world-renowned hospitality to Mandalay-bound travelers."
The new hotel faces fabled Mandalay Hill, which is home to some of the city's most beautiful pagodas and monasteries, as well as the Mandalay Palace. The property also provides a convenient base to explore such major attractions as U Bein Bridge and Mahamuni Pagoda, the company said.
Many of the hotel’s guestrooms include private balconies and some offer sweeping terraces. In addition, kitchenettes are available in several rooms, allowing for extended stays or accommodating families.
The hotel also features all-day dining at its Café Mandalay which serves a variety of authentic South East Asian and local cuisine. In addition, there’s an upscale deli in the hotel lobby that serves pastries and quick bites.
Additional amenities include a swimming pool, Jacuzzi and fully equipped fitness center that’s open 24 hours. The property will also provide complimentary bike rentals for guests seeking to explore nearby attractions.
Hilton's signature spa concept, eforea spa, is scheduled to open later in the year.
"As we continue to grow our footprint across Myanmar and Southeast Asia, we are pleased to provide guests with more opportunities to experience our best-in-class service with the opening of Hilton Mandalay," Paul Hutton, vice president, operations, Southeast Asia, Hilton, said in a statement. "With its location in the heart of Mandalay, surrounded by rich natural and cultural beauty, guests staying at Hilton Mandalay are poised to have a captivating cultural experience whether they are traveling for business or leisure."
Hilton Mandalay joins two other award-winning hotels already in operation in Myanmar—the Hilton Nay Pyi Taw and Hilton Ngapali Resort & Spa, bringing Hilton's portfolio in the country to three.
