During the final months of summer, many cities in North America tend to empty out as urbanites head to the country or the seaside for weekend recreation.
This means that city centers have a tendency to be empty and luxury hotels have to offer packages and promotions in order to fill their rooms during summer weekends.
I have some unbeatable hotel deals in three large American cities, where a quick weekend getaway for some pampering and relaxing with cocktails or perhaps by a great pool can be had for less than the going rate.
St. Regis Atlanta
Those seeking weekend respite in Atlanta's tony Buckhead neighborhood need look no further than the St. Regis Atlanta, where they can enjoy heritage design, intimate luxury in the pool and spa along with St. Regis butler service.
On select Fridays through August 25, the hotel is offering a Summer Fridays package, which includes confirmed check-in at noon to kick the weekend off early, two signature cocktails, breakfast for two in Astor Court or via room service and complimentary valet parking. Rates start at $399 and are subject to availability.
Logan Hotel Philadelphia
Philadelphia's Logan Square is an excellent place to spend a summer afternoon picnicking or enjoying the museums and dining establishments just north of the luxe Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. The Logan Hotel sits directly on the square and is offering summer weekend rates from $149 per night subject to availability. Hilton Honors members will earn points for their stays as the hotel is a member of Curio-a Collection by Hilton.
A defining feature of the hotel is Assembly Rooftop, nine stories above the square, with outdoor seating and expansive views of the museums surrounding the square and Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The Marquette Hotel
Speaking of Hilton's Curio Collection, there's another property in the Twin Cities that's fresh off a refresh and reflag as part of the collection of independent properties. The Marquette Hotel is a boutique property on Nicollet Mall that is celebrating its reopening with a 1,000 Honors Point bonus per night.
The weekend dates I checked in August are already filling up, so book soon, although it's worth noting that the 1,000 bonus points offer is available for booking through Christmas. Guests can enjoy views of the Minneapolis skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows, bath amenities by Acca Kappa or Bvlgari and oversized bathrooms.
