WHY IT RATES: This swank and stylish property offering a variety of unique and distinctive accommodations is the first new luxury hotel to be built in Palm Desert in three decades.-Mia Taylor, TravelPulse Senior Writer.

Hotel Paseo, a Marriott Autograph Collection property managed by Evolution Hospitality, proudly announces its official opening today in Palm Desert, CA.

Located along El Paseo, known as the "Rodeo Drive of the Desert," and near Coachella Valley attractions like world-class golf courses, art galleries, and Joshua Tree National Park, the boutique property brings an exciting destination to the desert that is inspiring, locally driven, and celebrates the past while embracing the future.

Uniting style and luxury, Hotel Paseo empowers visitors and locals to "find their path" with an all-encompassing transformative experience. Features include distinctive accommodations, such as a fully restored 1950 Airstream to an expansive Backyard Lawn with interactive games and yoga overlooking the San Jacinto Mountains, along with a living art gallery, and chef-driven food and beverage by some of the desert's most beloved restaurateurs.

"My wife Linda and I have been visiting Palm Desert for the past 10 years and noticed that El Paseo was missing a luxury hotel to complement its world-class fashion, art, and dining," says developer Robert Leach. "From the midcentury modern design elements to the hotel's diverse amenities, we're committed to creating an experience unlike any other in the desert."

"Paying homage to the effortless style of the desert's Golden Era, Hotel Paseo provides a stylish yet welcoming environment, offering something for everyone-whether it's a local visiting for lunch, or a guest seeking a relaxing desert vacation," adds General Manager Gil Reyes.

The Arrival

Hotel Paseo effortlessly blends the natural beauty of a desert oasis with mid-century modern design. From the moment of arrival, guests are energized by a curated, quintessentially California-cool experience beginning at the entrance, marked by two towering palm trees rising through an angular porte-cochère reminiscent of the desert's retro estates and luxury homes.

The Calacatta marble-floored lobby welcomes guests with a fun environment, featuring a rotating art gallery and one-of-kind art installations, such as a sleek mannequin styled in a bright bathing suit diving into a "Welcome to Southern California" painting by artist Tom Swimm, a custom-designed glass blown chandelier by master glass artisan Jesus Garcia, plus whimsical pathfinding art pieces like a collection of vintage-style roller skates leading to the gym.

The Rooms

The property's 150 guestrooms are bathed in soft gray, white, and light blue tones, complemented by colorful modern artwork by local artists, with barn doors opening to serene, spa-inspired luxury bathrooms. Guests seeking a wellness-centric retreat can also book one of three spa-adjacent Oasis guestrooms that feature freestanding, oval-shaped soaking tubs.

For an experience unlike any other, Hotel Paseo offers nine specialty suites, including a vintage 1950 Airstream by master restorer David Winick. The beautifully restored and fully furnished, 25-foot trailer, located on the Backyard Lawn, includes stainless steel appliances, an eight-foot reclaimed black walnut bar, and porch with cozy loungers.

Additional one-off accommodations include the Billiards Suite, offering a pool table, wet bar, lounge area, and a Shinola Runwell record player complete with a curated collection of old and new vinyl; along with the Grand Desert Suite featuring a motorized expandable boardroom table for intimate meetings. Each guestroom and suite boast 55" smart televisions with Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, and YouTube, while most rooms have private balconies overlooking the picturesque views of the San Jacinto Mountains and valley palms.

The Amenities

Bringing a new energy to the Palm Desert area, the hotel's Backyard Lawn provides a serene escape for relaxation and fun in the sun, featuring a crystal-blue pool and hot tub with three private cabanas, a poolside cabana bar called Lemondrop, and an outdoor stage with A/V capabilities for live musical performances.

Dynamic fire and water elements add further intrigue on the back patio, along with interactive games including a putting green and cornhole, plus shuffleboard in the lobby lounge. For rejuvenation and tranquility, Spa Lalé, opening in April 2018, offers seven treatment rooms with a blissful array of services such as couples and mom-to-be massages, invigorating body wraps, waxes, and a one-of-a-kind 24-karat gold facial.

Nearby, an expansive LifeFitness gym is fully stocked with premium equipment, while a backlit, floor-to-ceiling photo of Baja's iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas transports guests to an idyllic paradise during their workouts. Complimentary bicycles and fitness classes, including morning yoga and Tai Chi sessions held on the backyard lawn, are also available.

The Event Spaces

Ideal for all types of occasions, Hotel Paseo features a variety of meetings and event spaces, with a seamless flow from one area to the next. The 3,200-square-foot Grand Paseo Ballroom is elegantly detailed with a calming color scheme and can be divided into two separate spaces. The 2,000-square-foot Event Lawn, adjacent to the main ballroom, features a versatile outdoor venue, perfect for events under the sun or stars.

For smaller gatherings and meetings, the sophisticated Palm Boardroom accommodates 20 and includes premium A/V capabilities, including a 75" TV, and an excellent view of the manicured lawn and restored Airstream.

The Dining

Hotel Paseo's premier dining destination, AC3 Restaurant + Bar, unites the culinary and hospitality talents of three acclaimed desert restaurateurs-celebrated chef Andrew Copley and wife Juliana (Copley's on Palm Canyon), as well as Tony Marchese (TRIO).

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and happy hour, as well as event catering, room service, and pool bar offerings. AC3 spotlights a New American menu with unique, global twists on classic dishes such as Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes with wasabi guacamole, sweet and sour sauce, and tobiko; Berkshire Pork Schnitzel with dijonaise crushed potatoes, bacon Brussels sprouts, herbed yogurt, and cranberry; AC3 Wedge with baby iceberg, apple smoked bacon, tiny tomatoes, Kalamata olives, pickled onions, roasted corn, and avocado dressing; and Lobster Hash with poached eggs, potatoes, tinker bell peppers, melted chèvre, and herb salad.

Beverages include a selection of signature craft cocktails that speak to the climate and beautiful landscape of the desert like the Crystal Clear with Hornitos Cristalino tequila, fresh lime, Fresno chili, agave, and fresh cilantro; locally-driven craft beers; and a thoughtfully sourced wine list featuring select bottles from family-owned vineyards.

Designed by Design One Eleven in Indian Wells, the light-filled, contemporary space features high ceilings with an abundance of white and warm woods, juxtaposed against pops of bright colors. A variety of interchangeable dining areas make AC3 ideal for private events, with high-top communal tables, a formal dining room surrounded by comfortable banquettes, and a semi-private space with artistic shadow-box lighting.

An expansive patio overlooks stunning views of the San Jacinto Mountains with misters and a cozy fire pit. Further showcasing the desert's appreciation for art, AC3 commissioned local artist Nicholas Kontaxis to design multiple, large-scale colorful canvases to display around the restaurant. Kontaxis suffered an extensive brain tumor at 15 months old, resulting in seizures and autism, and now channels his love of texture and shape into his magnificent art.

The Café is also available in the hotel lobby, serving Starbucks coffee, tea, craft beer, wine and champagne by the glass, along with locally sourced pastries, sandwiches, salads, and pizza.

Located at 45400 Larkspur Lane, Palm Desert, CA, 92260, room rates start at $299 per night and reservations can be made now by visiting www.hotelpaseo.com.
