Hyatt Launches Personalized In-Room Streaming Experience

Hotel guests staying with Hyatt can stop squinting at the smartphone.
Just one month after Hyatt Hotels Corporation's reimagined loyalty program World of Hyatt went live the company has announced a collaboration with streaming solutions provider SONIFI that will allow guests to stream their favorite apps directly to their in-room television.
SONIFI's STAYCAST solution, which is powered by Google Chromecast, has been integrated with the World of Hyatt mobile app and the streaming technology is already available at 14 different Hyatt properties, including the Hyatt Regency New Orleans and Hyatt Centric French Quarter.
Hyatt plans to expand the technology to more properties in the future.
While Netflix, Hulu and other competing services are likely to be among the most popular, guests won't be limited to entertainment. Business travelers, for example, can stream their presentations from their room ahead of a conference or meeting.
Guests will also be able to access videos and photos on a larger screen.
The system is both simple and secure as well since guests are automatically logged out when they check out of the hotel. Content is also available in multiple languages. What's more, no code or personal credentials are required to take advantage.
"Today's traveler often has one or more streaming subscriptions, and now they can view their favorite content on the big screen when they're on the road, too," said Hyatt's senior vice president of corporate marketing Debbie Goetz in a statement accompanying Tuesday's announcement.
In his own statement, Hyatt's senior vice president of global hotel technology Jeff Bzdawka said "the World of Hyatt mobile app provides guests with a one-stop-shop of services to personalize their travel experience, whether it's using your phone to book the best room type for you to requesting a forgotten toothbrush or now enjoying your favorite entertainment on the guestroom TV."

Tuesday's announcement comes two years after the Hyatt Regency San Francisco became the first hotel to offer the STAYCAST streaming experience.
The World of Hyatt mobile app is available for download on iOS and Android devices.
Beyond Hyatt's partnership with SONIFI, Netflix recently expanded its agreement with in-room entertainment provider Enseo to make the beloved streaming service more widely available to hotel guests.
