Karisma Hotels & Resorts, a major player in Mexico's Riviera Maya, will continue its expansion into Jamaica, with the opening of a second resort in the country in 2016.
The announcement, among others, was made during the seventh annual Gourmet Inclusive Vacation Consultant (GIVC) Awards, which recognizes Karisma's top-producing travel agents. It was held at El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas Royale in the Riviera Maya.
The new Azul Beach Jamaica will be adjacent to the Azul Sensatori Jamaica, which opened last year, said Daniel Scheiman, Karisma's senior business development manager for North America.
Featuring 150-plus suites, all with ocean views, the property will include three restaurants, four pools and several bars. "The best thing is that the rooms are exclusively for sale for the U.S. and Canadian markets," said Scheiman.
In other significant developments, Scheiman said El Dorado Maroma in the Riviera Maya will debut 58 over-water infinity pool suites in mid 2015. "Every single one of them will have an infinity pool with a glass-bottom floor," he said.
In other Riviera Maya developments:
• Generations Maroma, which is adjacent to El Dorado Maroma, recently underwent a complete refurbishing of all its accommodations, which are comprised of one, two- and three-bedroom suites. It will also soon add a new Peruvian restaurant.
• At Hidden Beach Resort - Au Club Naturel, an adults-only nude resort, construction is underway on several Presidential suites.
• The 20,000-square-foot Naay Spa at El Dorado Casitas Royale will add a bridal floor next year.
• Azul Beach's Agavero Tequila Lounge and Blue Restaurant have been completely renovated.
• El Dorado Seaside Suites' Klay Talay Asian restaurant is moving to the property's new lobby and will be joined by a new bar. "We also have a new palapa that can accommodate up to 200 people for bridal events," Scheiman said. A new two-story Sky Palapa, featuring ocean views, can provide eight massages at one time.
• El Dorado Royale will continue offer its Canadian Beef Culinary Jackson Family Series and its Jackson Family Wines Culinary Series next year.
