InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is expanding its footprint in Asia.
IHG confirmed Wednesday that it has signed three management contracts to bring Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants-the unconventional luxury boutique brand and the industry's most coveted brands-to Indonesia and China.
The first property, Kimpton Bali, is scheduled to open in 2019 with 50 luxe villas on Bali's scenic Nusa Dua coast.
Meanwhile, the brand is eyeing a pair of 2021 openings in China.
"Asia has always attracted travelers who are eager to discover something new and fully immerse themselves in both the destination and local culture," Kimpton CEO, Mike DeFrino said in a statement.
The Kimpton Shanghai Jing'an will feature 150 guestrooms and 120 villas in the heart of China's biggest city. The property will also honor history with common areas located inside of a historically reserved building.
Elsewhere in China, the 251-room Kimpton Resort Sanya Haitang Bay will boast direct beach access in China's Hainan Province, as well as a rooftop pool, restaurant and bar.
"As urbanization moves out further, you're seeing these markets have incredible demand for hotels across the entire chain scale from luxury down to the mainstream," IHG CEO, Keith Barr told CNBC.
In May, Kimpton made its European debut with an opening in Amsterdam. A second European property is slated to open in Paris during 2020.
CNBC reported IHG is also bringing its Even Hotels brand to China. The wellness brand is highlighted by an array of fitness offerings, healthy dining options and relaxing guestrooms and public spaces. Barr anticipates the brand will also hit a "sweet spot" in China as the wellness trend continues to grow.
Wednesday's announcement comes exactly one month after IHG unveiled its new Avid Hotels brand in hopes of conquering the profitable midscale segment.
