Marriott International has just announced that it will be bringing the luxury vibes to Vietnam with the signing of three agreements for new resorts in the Southeast Asian destination. These freshly inked contracts are expected to herald the entry of two new brands to the Vietnamese landscape: Ritz-Carlton Reserve and The Luxury Collection, which will take up residence on sun-soaked Hon Thom Island in Phu Quoc. The company also revealed plans to place the country’s third JW Marriott property in Trang An, a serene UNESCO World Heritage haven nestled in northern Vietnam.

During his recent visit to Vietnam, Anthony Capuano, the President and CEO of Marriott International, formally signed these new pacts during two ceremonies held in Hanoi and Phu Quoc. Joining him for the proceeding were Rajeev Menon, President for Asia Pacific (excluding China) of Marriott International and Jakob Helgen, Area Vice President for Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Chairman Vu Quang Hoi from BITEXCO Group and Chairman Dang Minh Truong from Sun Group were also in attendance to oversee the signings.

“We are delighted to continue expanding our portfolio in Vietnam, particularly in the luxury space,” said Rajeev Menon, President for Asia Pacific (excluding China) of Marriott International. “Vietnam is a growing market for luxury travel, with rising demand from both international and domestic sectors. For overseas guests, Vietnam’s status as a destination with many natural and cultural wonders makes it ideal for visitors seeking one-of-a-kind experiences. The country’s domestic market interested in luxury travel is driving a rise in demand for global luxury brands. These signings further underscore our commitment to the future of hospitality and luxury in Vietnam.”

These are Marriott International’s newly planned developments in Vietnam:

JW Marriott Trang An Resort & Spa: Travelers can expect to experience this gem starting in 2028. Developed by BITEXCO Group, the same masterminds behind JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi, this luxurious retreat will be set amid lush tropical wetlands and verdant hills. This luxury retreat will feature 150 spacious rooms and suites, along with 35 one- and two-bedroom villas, some even boasting private pools.

Plans also include two restaurants and a café, lobby lounge and two bars. Onsite amenities are set to include two pool zones, kids’ club, outdoor playground, recreational activity center, fitness center and a signature Spa by JW facility.

The Luxury Collection Resort, Hon Thom Island: This resort, owned by Sun Group, is set to become part of The Luxury Collection brand and will start welcoming guests in 2029. Situated on the northwest coast of Hon Thom Island, its 305 rooms and suites will range in size from 50 to 250 square meters, and including family-friendly options.

Anticipated amenities include two pool areas, a kids' club, activity center and fitness center, plus spa with seven treatment rooms, whirlpools, saunas and steam rooms. When it comes to dining, six restaurants and bars will provide a diversity of available culinary experiences. Sun Group also presently owns the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa.

Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Hon Thom Island: Set to open its doors in 2028, this brand-new Ritz-Carlton Reserve is going to be a masterpiece designed by none other than Bill Bensley. It promises to provide a complete escape, immersing guests into a private sphere of luxury and natural beauty. Situated on an intimate estate near the south tip of Hon Thom Island, it will offer stunning sea views over Phu Quoc’s southern archipelago.

Guests will be able to select from a curated collection of 40 pool villas, and enjoy two resort pools, a spa, salon, fitness center, three restaurants and three bars. Kids will be able to participate in Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment educational program, featuring its own two-story activity center and garden. There will also be a 300-square-meter event space that’s well-suited to beachfront wedding ceremonies, for those seeking to hold their nuptials in paradise.
