The popularity of last
year’s live-action ‘Barbie’
movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is about to lend itself to
a brand-new attraction in The Bahamas.
Mattel, Inc. has just announced an exciting collaboration with Nassau’s
Atlantis
Paradise Island resort to launch an immersive Barbie-themed
experience, called 'Barbie Bahamas Beach Vacation: Where Atlantis Dreams
Come True’, which will help guests to celebrate Barbie's 65th anniversary
on March 9.
Set to debut over
Memorial Day weekend and extend throughout the summer, 'Barbie Bahamas Beach
Vacation: Where Atlantis Dreams Come True' promises a plethora of
Barbie-themed activities and offerings. From specially designed Barbie-themed
guest rooms and suites to interactive experiences and exclusive retail options,
this partnership will bring the magic of Barbie to the Caribbean and the
Bahamas for the very first time.
“What better way
to celebrate Barbie’s 65th anniversary than to create a
one-of-a-kind guest experience for the first time ever at Atlantis Paradise
Island,” said Julie Freeland, Senior Director of Location Based Entertainment
at Mattel. “Atlantis is unmatched in offering top-of-the-line experiences, a
commitment to consumers and fans that we deeply value at Mattel.”
“Atlantis Paradise
Island’s collaboration with the global toy and entertainment company Mattel
adds to the resort’s 25-year history in providing world-class, experiential
entertainment,” Audrey Oswell, President and Managing Director, Atlantis
Paradise Island, said in a statement. “What makes the ‘Barbie Bahamas
Beach Vacation: Where Atlantis Dreams Come True’ special, is that it
is meant to be enjoyed by all generations and will offer a range of accessible
experiences. We are a resort that has a long history of delivering
unforgettable experiences to our guests, and firsts to The Bahamas. Barbie fits
that bill.”
‘Atlantis’
Barbie Bahamas Beach Vacation: Where Atlantis Dreams Come True’ is set to include several unique experiences
and activations, such as:
Barbie Bahamas
Beach Vacation – the Immersive Experience. One of the main attractions of Atlantis' Barbie Bahamas Beach
Vacation is the immersive experience set within Atlantis’ iconic hotel, The
Royal. Against the stunning backdrop of The Dig, the world's largest open-air
marine habitat, Barbie enthusiasts of all ages will be able to walk through
multiple life-size Barbie playsets, featuring plenty of Instagram-worthy
vignettes and themed Barbie doll boxes that guests can climb into for memorable
photo opportunities. Highlights include a rolled-out pink carpet that stretches
forth from The Royal's illustrious grand staircase and an out-of-the-world
Barbie ball pit.
Barbie-themed Beachside
Guestrooms and Cabanas. Travelers staying at Atlantis during this celebratory period will have the
opportunity to book Barbie-themed beachside guestrooms and cabanas, each filled
with a unique set of iconic Barbie design elements. From laying among pink
pillows and throw blankets to lounging amid customized sunchair cushions and
cabana amenities, guests will get to experience the unmistakable world of
Barbie in a tropical paradise.
Barbie Culinary
Adventure. The Coral's Sun
& Ice café will also undergo an on-theme transformation, becoming a Barbie-inspired
gastronomic extravaganza, offering an exclusive menu of desserts, cocktails and
mocktails served in a whimsically decorated setting.
Barbie-inspired
Kids Adventures. The resorts’
youngest guests can participate in Barbie-themed activities at the Atlantis
Kids Adventures kids’ club, such as cooking classes, interactive experiences and
other special on-brand activations.
Barbie Movie
Nights. Complimentary
Barbie movie night programming will be hosted both poolside and in the Atlantis
Theater for families to enjoy together.
The new
cross-sector partnership arrives on the heels of Atlantis Paradise Island's
25th anniversary celebrations, which saw the unveiling of such multimillion-dollar
renovations as The Royal’s complete renovation, the reimagining of Atlantis
Casino and the addition of the new Bar Sol, to name a few. Atlantis also
launched an assortment of new dining destinations, including the
Mediterranean-inspired Silan from James Beard Award-winning chef Alon Shaya,
and coastal Italian concept Paranza at The Cove by Chef Michael White. With
their addition, Atlantis becomes the Caribbean’s only resort that can boast three
Michelin star-rated chef-led restaurants.
