Melia is expanding with a new resort in Playa Mujeres, Mexico.
The resort company is planning a new 498-room Paradisus resort in the region that is scheduled to open in 2019.
"Paradisus Playa Mujeres will be the newest gem in the Mexican Caribbean where we have had a presence for nearly three decades and where we will continue to invest as it has all of the attributes that make it an attractive, dynamic, profitable, and sustainable destination," said Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, vice president and CEO of Melia Hotels Internationaltold Reportur.
The new resort will build Melia's presence in the region.
"Following the success of the Paradisus La Perla and La Esmeralda in Playa del Carmen, and the rebranding of the Paradisus Cancun and Paradisus Los Cabos, the Playa Mujeres resort will serve to consolidate our stake in the luxury all-inclusive tourism segment of this destination that's so close to our heart," added Escarrer.
The new property will offer Paradisus' signature Royal Service (for adults only), giving guests access to private butlers. The Family Concierge service will also be available for multigenerational travelers.
There are plans for four swimming pools, six bars, and seven restaurants as well as a convention center for as many as 1,500 people and four business stations.
Hotels are cropping up all around Playa Mujeres. Riu recently opened the Riu Dunamar in 2017 and Palladium will open two hotels in the region later this year.
