Platinum Elite status in the Marriott Rewards and SPG programs normally requires 50 nights during a calendar year, but one property is offering meeting planners the opportunity to earn Platinum Elite status after a single booking.
W Scottsdale is offering meeting groups of a certain size the Platinum Package, which will award the coveted Platinum Elite status for one year to the meeting planner booking the event.
Meeting groups must book 40 room nights or more (a group is more than ten rooms booked together; a room night is one room for one night) to qualify. The Platinum Package also includes free WiFi in meeting rooms and double loyalty points.
Also included is a complimentary one-hour beer and wine reception with any group dinner or reception booked as part of the same group meeting stay.
Platinum Elite status offers valuable benefits normally only available to the most frequent SPG or Marriott Rewards guests. Members at that tier will earn a 50% points bonus on stays, a room upgrade (including select suites) at check-in, and a platinum welcome gift. Members will also enjoy lounge access at most non-resort properties, late 4 PM checkout, and enhanced in-room internet access.
SPG and Marriott Rewards combined programs in August, offering members the opportunity to combine points and elite night credits toward elite status. Earning elite status will also be more difficult for some members following the program changes.
Group bookings with the Platinum Package must be in place by December 17, 2018, and is valid for stays throughout 2019, with some blackout dates. W Scottsdale offers 230 guest rooms, including 33 suites, plus ten event spaces accommodating events up to 1200 attendees.
