Renaissance continues its global growth march with the opening of its first-ever property in Poland.
The brand, part of Marriott International, has announced the 225-room Renaissance Warsaw Airport Hotel, one of 16 hotels to debut in the next 12 months globally.
The new hotel is also part of Renaissance's recently revealed plan to overhaul and reimagine the entire airport hotel experience, which TravelPulse reported on in April.
That effort includes bringing a new level of style, entertainment, food and beverage and more to the typically staid hotel experience. The program will encompass airport hotels around the world including Renaissance Amsterdam Schipol Airport Hotel, slated to open in November and the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel, which opened last year.
"As global air travel demand continues to grow, there is an increasing opportunity to reimagine airport hotels through clever, theatrical design and engaging guest experiences," George Fleck, vice president of Global Brand Marketing & Management, Renaissance Hotels, said in a statement. "We are thrilled to introduce Renaissance Warsaw Airport Hotel, whose design coupled with our savvy Navigators and entertaining Evening Bar Rituals provides an open invitation to experience something a little unexpected during our guests' travels."
The Warsaw property is 20 minutes from Warsaw city center. Its guest rooms and suites feature modernist-inspired interiors complemented by graphic art from the renowned Polish Poster Gallery, bringing a sense of local soul and creating unexpected moments of discovery.
The avant-garde modernism of the 1930s, 1960s and today is also part of the hotel's design, which includes modern pops of primary colors in its art, textiles, and furniture, inspired by the fashion, graphic design and pop culture of the time.
In the hotel's spacious lobby area curious and adventurous guests can visit a Discovery Table to connect with the hotel's Navigators referenced by Fleck. Navigators are on-hand to propose handpicked experiences that invite guests to go "off-script" and discover something that can't be found in the guidebooks.
Additional public spaces include a signature restaurant offering local Polish cuisine with a modern twist, as well as hotel bar that plays host to inspiring social events including the nightly Renaissance Bar Ritual.
Renaissance Warsaw also includes a spa and wellness area with a swimming pool.
"We are delighted to debut the Renaissance brand in Poland with the opening of Renaissance Warsaw Airport Hotel," John Licence, vice president Premium and Select Brands Europe at Marriott International, said in a statement. "Today's travelers see every journey as a chance to be inspired by the unexpected and Renaissance provides the perfect lens through which to uncover the hidden gems of this vibrant city."
The Renaissance hotel brand has been part of Marriott International's portfolio since 1997. Brand executives recently announced that its hotels will be undergoing a massive transformation that will involve more than 40 percent of the brand's North American properties undergoing dramatic renovations this year in order to reinvent their design story.
