Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Hotels announced plans for a new property in San Francisco on Monday. Expected to open this upcoming summer, the hotel will be managed by Virgin and developed by Paradigm Hotels Group.
The new build hotel will boast 196 Chambers and Grand Chamber Suites as well as multiple dining outlets, meeting spaces and a rooftop bar.
Located on Fourth Street in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, the hotel will be within close proximity to a handful of local attractions, including Yerba Buena Gardens, the Children's Creativity Museum and the Moscone Center, among others.
The new Central Subway Station will also be nearby when it opens in 2019, allowing future guests to quickly travel to other popular neighborhoods, including Union Square and Chinatown.
In a statement, Virgin Hotels CEO Raul Leal called San Francisco a "dynamic, forward-thinking city that embodies so much of what Virgin Hotels stands for."
"As a top domestic and international travel hub for both business and leisure alike, San Francisco is an ideal location for our next Virgin Hotel," Leal added.
While new to the landscape, the Virgin brand is already beginning to stand out.
"The target guest is clear from the design of the rooms: a tech-savvy, style-conscious traveler who may or may not travel with their pet, who is generally familiar with and/or appreciative of the Virgin brand of Cool Britannia meets friendly-casual service delivered with a wink and a nudge," wrote TravelPulse's hotel expert Scott Laird after his recent stay at Virgin Hotel Chicago.

"It's different, but it's the kind of different one could easily get used to," added Laird. "It's almost as though every pain point has been meticulously researched in the design of the rooms."
Like the Chicago property, Virgin Hotel San Francisco will feature the brand's signature space, The Commons Club as well as an on-site coffee shop.
Virgin Hotels debuted in Chicago in 2015 and has two other properties under construction in Dallas and New York City. The chain also has plans to open hotels in New Orleans, Silicon Valley, Nashville and Palm Springs.
