Where to Be and What to Do for Super Bowl Weekend
Hotel & Resort Mia Taylor February 01, 2019

Atlanta will be at the center of the action and the world’s attention this weekend as the city plays host to the 2019 Super Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
This will be the third Super Bowl in Atlanta, which previously hosted the big game in 1994 and in 2000 at the Georgia Dome.
About one million people are expected to arrive in the Georgia capital for the event, turning the city into party central.
“As a city, we’re really excited to have the Super Bowl here. It’s one of the crown jewels of sporting events and we have not hosted it for a long time,” Brad Koeneman, general manager of Hilton Atlanta, told TravelPulse. “With Mercedes-Benz stadium just built, this gives a chance to showcase the new stadium and it gives us an opportunity to showcase Atlanta as a whole to a lot of folks.”
The Hilton Atlanta, a 1,250-room hotel, has been preparing for this weekend since the announcement was made in 2016 that the city would be the location of the big event.
With its prime location, just one mile from Mercedes-Benz Stadium and within walking distance to many other pre-game activities at Centennial Olympic Park, every single room at the Hilton Atlanta was booked long in advance of this weekend’s football showdown.
Many of those rooms will be accommodating individuals associated with the NFL, which bought out much of the hotel’s space two years ago, said Koeneman.
The sheer number of people the property will serve this weekend and the amount of food it will be preparing is just one indicator of how busy the entire city will likely be.
Koeneman said the hotel will be serving breakfast for between 700 to 800 people each of the next two days. And over the course of four days, the hotel will be preparing and serving 600 fish tacos; 800 burger patties; 1,000 pounds of chicken; 2,500 chicken wings; 4,000 sautéed Savannah shrimp; 5,000 turkey sausages and 16,000 eggs.
“It’s going to be one big party. There will be a party on every corner,” said Koeneman. “But the main thing people can be confident about and excited about is that they’re going to get a good dose of southern hospitality.”
Whether you plan to be in Atlanta this weekend or somewhere else around the globe, here are some of the notable happenings and hotel parties to keep in mind.
Super Bowl Breakfast, Marriott Marquis
The NFL-sanctioned Athletes in Action Super Bowl Breakfast, a ticketed event, has taken place in the Super Bowl host city every year since 1988, and typically draws a packed house to hear from sport’s biggest names. The Bart Starr Award is presented at the breakfast in honor of Starr’s lifelong commitment to serving as a positive role model. This year’s breakfast will take place on February 2 at Atlanta’s Marriott Marquis.
Taste of the NFL, Cobb Galleria
An annual strolling wine and food event, the Taste of the NFL features a chef from each NFL city who serves their signature dish alongside a current or alumni NFL player. There will be more than 35 food stations where guests can sample fine cuisine. This ticketed event takes place at the Cobb Galleria on February 2.
Super Bowl Experience Driven by Hyundai, Georgia World Congress Center
An interactive theme park celebrating the Super Bowl, this event includes immersive exhibits and games. There will also be opportunities to take photos with the Vince Lombardi Trophy and collect free NFL player and Legend autographs. The Super Bowl Experience will run through February 2 at Georgia World Congress Center.

Super Bowl Live Presented by Verizon, Centennial Olympic Park
The Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee’s free-to-the-public fan village, Super Bowl Live will highlight Atlanta’s vibrant culture and music scene, featuring concerts staged by GRAMMY award-winning producer Jermaine Dupri. There will also be family-friendly activities for fans of all ages at this event, which is taking place through February 2 at Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown Atlanta.
