A technical glitch caused the system to go down and BA apologized to passengers.
A BA spokesperson told the Telegraph: "Customers are being checked in as normal after an earlier problem was resolved. We are sorry for the temporary check-in problems which caused some delays for our customers first thing this morning.
"This issue is now resolved and our staff are working flat out to help customers get away on their holidays."
According to the Sun, passengers were reporting lines that were eight rows deep.

This is the seventh time that the system has failed in the last 12 months.
Passengers took to Twitter to share their outrage, calling the scene "carnage" and reported two-hour long lines and planes stranded on the tarmac.
This new systems failure comes just months after BA had to ground all of its flights during a busy Bank Holiday weekend that kicked off turmoil at Heathrow and Gatwick, stranding passengers at the airport.
